MISSION, VISION, AND VALUES
MCAD’s student body includes more than 800 students from 45 states and 15 countries. Of these, 50% are enrolled in Design, 38% in Media Arts, 10% in Fine Arts, and the remaining 2% in MCAD’s new Arts Entrepreneurship Department. 64% identify as women, 30% as men, and 6% as nonbinary; and 21 is the average student age. 42% are receiving the Pell Grant and 16% of undergraduate students are first-generation (as self-reported on the FAFSA).
MCAD alumni are part of a vibrant and active community all over the world. The college regularly offers opportunities for alumni to reconnect with each other and the college, enjoy special benefits, and share their stories.
MCAD’s three-acre campus, which shares a block with the Minneapolis Institute of Art, comprises classrooms, professional facilities, galleries, student housing complexes, artist studios, and a sculpture garden. The modernist Main Building is one of the only buildings in the United States designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Kenzo Tange, and the historical Julia Morrison Memorial Building is more than a century old.
With more than 95% of students receiving financial aid in the form of grants or scholarships, MCAD is continually working to stay affordable to all students with the talent and drive to succeed as artists and designers. There are several opportunities to give to the college, including through scholarships, legacy support, events like the MCAD Art Sale and MCAD Auction, and more. Discover how you can support the next generation of creative talent.
