About Kimball Learning

FURNITURE FOR THE NEW WAY OF LEARNING.

LEARN. GATHER. WORK.

On campuses around the world, educational spaces are becoming more like everyday spaces. The boundaries designating where people learn have blurred, and just as much discussion and collaboration happen in the spaces outside classrooms as they do in the classrooms themselves. Many spaces are being used as multi-purpose areas, so instructors and students expect furniture that’s easy to reconfigure for different learning styles. They also expect furniture to work seamlessly with their technology to embrace the ways they learn and communicate. In terms of style, there’s a shift toward the casual, creative atmosphere of cafés and other places where people come together naturally to form a sense of community. Kimball Learning, has incorporated the needs and expectations of these ever-evolving education trends into the development of our product portfolio. You’ll find flexible, collaborative, and technology-driven furnishings from classrooms to administrative offices and every secondary learning space in between.

Kimball Learning

LEARN. GATHER. WORK.

Learn
An interactive space like this frees instructors and students to move beyond the passive learning style of conventional classrooms toward a dynamic, interactive style that teaches the collaborative skills employers value. As the classroom of the future, our learning model encourages instructors to actively mentor and advise students during their group collaboration. Sliding whiteboards, writable table surfaces and multiple monitors create spaces to share ideas and provide optimal viewing for any position in a classroom configuration.

Gather
There’s a lot of learning happening outside the classroom today, making hallways, lounges, and other gathering places an even more important part of education. Equipping these spaces with versatile furnishings gives students and faculty the freedom to learn where, when, and how they want, without being limited to classroom time and availability. A mix of furniture makes the space welcoming for individual, one-on-one, or larger group use. Built-in power and connectivity support a full range of student activities.

Work
Administrative settings have become more collaborative, too. Along with casegoods and seating for traditional offices and conference rooms, there’s a new demand for casual spaces where team members can interact and share ideas with each other, instructors, and students. Introducing team spaces doesn’t have to mean crowding the room. By choosing flexible designs, such as storage areas that double as bench seating, you can offer multiple functions within the same footprint.

About Kimball Office

Kimball Office is a design driven, technologically savvy brand, tailoring solutions that provide better workplace, learning & healing environments. For nearly 45 years, Kimball Office has been designing office furniture that is inspiring, productive, and environmentally-responsible.

This is our story.

The humble beginnings of Kimball Office are deeply rooted in Indiana tradition, specifically that of the City of Jasper and the surrounding municipalities and counties, which is that of a German heritage and driven by a passionate pride of self, place, and, ultimately, product. The recognized leader in wood office furniture, Kimball Office has been designing and manufacturing office furniture as a business unit of Kimball International whose beginning dates back to 1950.

In that year, Arnold F. Habig founded a small contract furniture manufacturer of residential furniture and television cabinets called The Jasper Corporation. Throughout the 1950s, a number of steps were taken to strengthen a system of vertical integration, a key factor in Kimball’s long-term success. Vertical integration meant the company was largely self-sufficient in every aspect of wood manufacturing, from raw materials to production to marketing and distribution.

In 1959, the W.W. Kimball company—a century-old piano maker from Chicago, Illinois—was purchased from the last remaining Kimball family heir by The Jasper Corporation. At its peak during the 1960s and 1970s, the company was manufacturing approximately 100,000 pianos and organs per year, remaining true to the piano company’s original sales slogan, “Music For The Millions.” During these peak years, Kimball produced 250 pianos and 150 electronic organs per day.

This success further fueled the growth of The Jasper Corporation into other markets. Based on the quality reputation associated with the Kimball name, the company developed other product lines: office furniture, home furniture, and electronics.

In 1970, the Kimball name was synonymous with pianos and music…but that was about to change. At the beginning of the decade, the company decided to manufacture and market office furniture under the Kimball brand name.

Kimball Office was born and quickly achieved phenomenal success in the marketplace, building a reputation for fine craftsmanship, quality products, and quick in stock delivery.

In our nearly 45 years of producing office furniture, our products have earned numerous awards and honors, been featured on television shows, as well as in movies, and has been utilized in high profile offices across the United States. Kimball Office is focused on integrity, passion, partnership, excellence, and experience—with the intention of carrying these values across the country.
